Sorry for not replying promptly but I was hoping others would pitch in with some opinion, rather than leave it to me again so they can all moan about Vimes n his 'opinions' again lol.
Time of defiance should be played as its now free to play completely and NiceTech are openly pimping a new MMO RTS in the near future. No more details yet.
Boundless Planet is having a revival with some Justin activity spotted - though like bigfoot we have yet to find solid evidence he really exists and isnt some 15 year old Korean girl playing us all. The games good but little has changed - free to play on one planet with limitations and cheap sub for rest. Expect support if critical but forget minor changes and tweaks for now - even if they will massively improve the game lol.
I play Beyond Protocol and, whilst not perfect or anywhere near a final game feel yet, this is more down to the open ended development model used to empower the senate. Much needs balancing n tweaking but with such a hugely complex game, this is to be expected. IF DSE can get the numbers in, this will develop quickly into an awesome game - Ive been quite involved chatting to the devs and thier long term plans are great and much better placed, than a comparative title i could mention, to expand into multiplatform/genre gaming. The politics are hot - there is so much going on with the guilds and main players - expect a lot fo warfare. If you feel there isnt a war going on then your just not involved atm - you will be. The politics are scary real power plays - the early domination of this game is a prize being sought by many already. I also happen to know a number of ex-10six players are active in here.
Hive Rise is a good incarnation of the Shattered Galaxy type MMORTT game if you fancy dropping in - light build fight affair with online rankings and Battleswarm is innovative with RTS vs FPS gameplay. There are loads of TCG (trading card games) MMO RTS games out there now but many are fantasy based which, I am getting a vibe from your post, isnt what fluffs your pillow. Possibly, like myself, you have been overindulged with orcs and such much earlier in MMO life
