Cosmic Supremacy is a FREE tick/turn-based massively multiplayer space strategy game with a 3D 'Galaxy View' interface. You share a galaxy with hundreds of players each with their own alien civilization. Some of them might turn out to be your enemies, others could be your allies. You need to explore the galaxy around you, discover new solar systems, colonise new planets, and expand your empire. You can design every ship in your fleet, and research new advanced technologies so that you can build faster and stronger ships that will give you the edge in epic battles.
As a game in the 4X genre (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate), Cosmic Supremacy draws inspiration from the hundreds of browser-based games out there, but we did not want to add yet another one - instead we took the basic idea to the next level; the Fifth X: eXperience. Cosmic Supremacy is played with a very slim downloadable client allowing features that other games can only dream of. We left the shortcomings of existing games behind and designed Cosmic Supremacy from the ground up to be the best game in it's class.
If you are into online space strategy games, then Cosmic Supremacy might be just what you have been looking for!
We are offering an innovative mix between traditional multiplayer strategy games and persistent online games. A game in Cosmic Supremacy (which we call a 'Galaxy') exists in it's own completely separate galaxy. Every Galaxy has a definite start, and ends when there is an obvious winner. Galaxies usually last between 3 and 6 weeks, but you are not required to sit behind your computer and babysit your empire all the time - instead (just like in a wide variety of browser based games) you give your orders and commands, and check back several hours later to see the results of your decisions.
The game keeps on running, even while you are not online. While in other games that usually means that your empire grows uncontrollably, and might even be vulnerable because your ships are not controlled by anyone, we offer Governors and Admirals that control your planets and ships while you are offline. These are essentially a set of rules that allow you to control the game as if you were online yourself! These rules are controlled with conditions to make a 'script' that can be as simple or as complex as you like. For example; it is extremely simple to make sure that there are always enough farmers on the planet to prevent starvation.
Cosmic Supremacy is a true 4X game (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit, eXterminate), and there are many different strategies to grow and expand your empire. You learn from your achievements as well as your failures, and try to do even better next time. Cosmic Supremacy allows you to do just that, because every game has a limited duration before declaring a winner. After that you enter the next galaxy, refine your strategies by learning from your experiences in previous galaxies, and try to get an even better score this time around.
Many persistent online strategy games suffer from the same problems: You enter the game and grow, and research all possible technologies, and then what? There is nothing left to do... but the game still goes on and on... Or even worse, you enter the game as a new-comer, but are attacked by someone several times bigger than you that has been around for months, before you even have a chance to build up your empire... That is not the case in Cosmic Supremacy! Everyone starts from scratch and has an equal and fair chance to outgrow your opponents. At the end of the game you are rewarded player-fame points, which gives you a sense of achievement, and allows you to compare with other players. But not only that, we rate your skill as well, and make sure you end up playing in galaxies with other equally skilled players as yourself.
Since Cosmic Supremacy is played in a standalone Windows-application, the entire look and feel will be instantly familiar to you. No more hacking of coordinates into your keyboard to issue one command after the other - instead use multi-selection, point and click, drag and drop, and context menus to control the game! No more waiting for web-pages to build up, just because you ordered one more ship to be built. Instead in Cosmic Supremacy everything happens virtually instantly, because only very little data needs to be sent between the server and the client.
And best of all: a full 3D controllable galaxy-map, that actually shows the world you are playing in! See the screenshots section to get a first impression. Now imagine you can seamlessly zoom in on every planet, sun or ship, giving your orders right there in the map, twist and turn the view around, and zoom out again to see the vast stretches of the entire galaxy... Territorial borders and ship-routes are displayed as well as special effects to make this experience a feast for your eyes.
In Cosmic Supremacy there are no coordinates, hence there is no tile based coordinate system. If you send a ship from planet A to planet B, the ship flies on a straight line between those two arbitrary points in space. Though for your convenience a course is automatically plotted around suns and planets, in order to protect your property from destruction, and ultimately save the lives of the crew-men aboard
Cosmic Supremacy offers a wide variety of different galaxy and game types. You can play in Team Galaxies, were two or more preset teams battle it out. For those speed freaks among you we offer Speed Galaxies, with extremely fast ticks between 1 and 3 minutes. Those feel pretty much like real time strategy games and can be played from start to end in only a couple of hours. So if you do not have the time and patience to devote yourself to week long battles, Speed Galaxies might be just the right solution for you. They are always extremely fun! But there are even more options, you can create your own custom galaxies, with your favorite settings and invite other players (or your friends only) to it. The options are virtually limitless!
