Finding a BETA

Google and other Engines

I will probably get tsked a lot here but Google  ‘new beta’ or just ‘beta’ for starters. Most won’t appear in the first few pages, especially when just launched. Many of the front pages will probably be released or closed offers.

Genre sites

If you are sure of the genre you wish to BETA then head to a genre specific site and search all the latest news. Many sites are run by genre fanatics (me too I suppose) and we hunt these items out to generate content and beat the big sites.

Beta sites

There exist official BETA sites run as businesses and hobbyist/amateur sites which collate BETA info and distribute it for the love of it. The former require a contract of sorts and/or payment for joining. These obviously insert themselves wherever they can with commercial vigour. The hobbyist sites typically just require joining, some not even that much

Gaming Portals

If you are less fussy and wish to see what is out there, then there are key gaming portals that get the juicy big commercial BETAs and then there is the press release sites and developer sites. Bloggers hold a shifting middle ground with many referencing the big games but really highlighting smaller budget/notoriety games more than the independents do initially. The use of social bookmarking can bring small scale ventures to the fore briefly, allowing commentary which you can find with google or following the social networks.
